Hannya, Noh theatre character mask
Japanese interior metal Noh mask represents female serpent-demon filled
with malicious jealousy and hatred. In Noh theatre
performance this Hannya mask with two sharper horns,
metallic eyes lying half hidden beneath scowling brows
and with gaping mouth which is full of golden teeth
represents women betrayed or spurned by their lovers who
turn into serpent demons
About 1970's
Excellent condition with no damage.
