Japanese Antique Doll of Yoshitsune playing the flute, 1940's
Antique Japanese doll representing the young Yoshitsune
(1159-1189), also called Ushiwaka, military leader and hero
of Japanese lore (Heike Monogatari, Japanese medieval narrative).
He dressed in green-blue silk brocade hitatare, wooden geta,
orange-red kimono and gauzy kimono used as headscarf on
his head for escaping recognition. His black hair brushed
in Nambokucho (1336-1392) era style for young aristocrats.
Yoshitsune plays the flute. This wonderful doll crafted
in mid 40's with very rich and very detailed costume.
Wooden stand with name of the doll and artist's name and
old display and storage box come with.
Dimensions: 35,7 cm / 14” high
Condition: The doll has been kept carefully in glass box,
so it is in excellent condition without any damage
