Japanese Antique Pair Dolls of Court Dancers, 1900's
Absolutely rare antique very big pair of dolls represent
two young court dancers with bells which are dancing Sambaso
dance. Dolls are dressed in traditional high stripes hats
and wonderfully crafted silk brocade costumes with pine
trees and flowers motif. Each of the dolls stands on one
leg and holds other leg suspended in well balanced dance
position. Their very expressive faces carved of wood and
covered in with a highly burnished gofun. These magnificent
dolls crafted in Kyoto in mid Meiji era (1868-1912), ensuring
the finest quality and craftsmanship.
Dimensions: 47 cm / 18,5” high
Condition: very good condition with small barely visible
crack on one doll's foot.
