Japanese Wedding dress or Uchikake originated in the Edo period where it was worn exclusively by court nobles. Uchikake is made of silk and is embellished with fine embroidery and silk brocade. The elegant traditional Japanese Wedding Kimonos on these page have been decorated with a wide array of traditional techniques, each with distinctive characteristics that encouraged imaginative imagery. A range of decorative approaches you can see: intricate embroidery in satin stitch or metallic couching, delicate shaded resist painting, applied gold and silver foil, elaborate brocading, and intricate tie-dye. Its are one-of-a-kind works of textile art that can either be displayed or worn. All are in good condition, with no tears or damaged areas, but with an excellent artistic taste. Each kimono gives dramatically different impression and all kimono are hand sewn and "one of a kind".
